2328. Hon Alison Xamon to the Minister for Child Protection representing the Minister for Planning

I refer to Bush Forever, and ask —

(1) What is the total number and total area of Bush Forever sites in the Perth Metropolitan Area?

(2) Since the inception of Bush Forever, how many Bush Forever sites have been subject to urban development?

(3) Since the inception of Bush Forever, how many development applications affecting Bush Forever sites have been refused?

(4) How many Bush Forever sites are currently subject to development applications or draft proposals, such as the Karnup Train Station, and the extension of Keane Road through Anstey–Keane Wetland?

Hon ROBYN McSWEENEY replied:

(1) There are 287 Bush Forever areas, encompassing approximately 72,871 hectares of land.

(2) Since 23 September 2008, one Bush Forever area has been subject to Urban Development, in Bush Forever area 125. Bush Forever 125 is in Southern River, and the proposed Urban Development is within Bush Forever section D, (Southern River Outline Development Plan Precinct E) and is on the northern side of Holmes Street.

(3) Since 23 September 2008 there have been six Development Applications refused, and another one that is pending a State Administrative Tribunal decision.

(4) Currently there are 6 applications that have been referred to the Western Australian Planning Commission for advice affecting Bush Forever sites — none of these are the proposals such as the Karnup Train Station and the extension of Keane Road through Anstey–Keane Wetland.
