4638. Hon Alison Xamon to the Minister for Mental Health representing the Minister for Environment

I refer to the corella cull held in Maylands at the end of March/start of April 2011, and I ask, what are the criteria that must be met to trigger a cull?

Hon HELEN MORTON replied:

The Minister for Environment has provided the following response:

Control can be authorised in response to complaints from landowners/managers, including local government authorities, about property damage, public nuisance, and disturbance caused by the birds, or based on the Department of Environment and Conservation’s (DEC) assessment of impacts on nature conservation values.
