Mundlimup coupe - forest products
Hon ALISON XAMON to the minister representing the Minister for Forestry:
I refer to the proposed logging at Serpentine–Jarrahdale.
(1) What is the estimated projected revenue to the state government from the sale of forest products in the
312-hectare coupe 3 of Mundlimup forest at Serpentine–Jarrahdale?
(2) What are the costs to be offset against this revenue, including payments to contractors and road
construction costs?
(3) How many tonnes of timber will be harvested from this coupe?
(4) Can the minister please advise when the harvest is expected to commence?
Hon ROBYN McSWEENEY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) The gross stumpage revenue from the sale of forest products is estimated at approximately $250 000.
Additional revenue reflecting the cost of harvesting is estimated at $220 000, but this will vary
depending on the haulage distances to customers.
(2) The direct costs to offset against the estimated total revenue of $470 000 are the harvest, haulage,
delivery and coupe preparation in accordance with the forest management plan and various
management guidelines and any regeneration, remediation or silviculture treatment costs. Other indirect
costs following harvest planning are supervision of the operations and the administration of the
production contracts and the administration of the production contracts.
(3) Approximately 6 550 tonnes will be harvested.
(4) Harvesting is scheduled to commence in spring–summer of 2010. Road construction and upgrade is
scheduled to be completed in autumn 2010.
