Inappropriate development planned for Wattle Grove
The Shire of Kalamunda currently has an amendment advertised to rezone Lot 32 Gavour Road from ‘Special Rural’ to ‘Special Use (Aged Residential Care)’. If this amendment is approved, an Aged Care facility will be built on a block with no reticulated sewerage and exceedingly poor access to urban amenities such as medical care, shopping and leisure activities.
The need for suitable Aged Care facilities is urgent and the shortage of beds in the Hills area is chronic. We need more Aged Care facilities; however this proposal does not meet basic requirements for the health, safety and happiness of residents. There are up to 15 other sites in the Shire of Kalamunda that are suitable for and Aged Care facility and developing those sites should be a priority.

I am working with the Wattle Grove Action Group to publicise the inappropriateness of this site for an Aged Care facility and I strongly encourage the Shire of Kalamunda to choose one of the far more suitable alternative sites that have been identified by the community.
