Children & Youth

Nearly a quarter of the people in WA society today are under 25 years old. These children and young people are often denied their rights, or are unaware of what their rights are, and what to do if their rights are violated. It is the role of Government, in conjunction with the International Convention on the Rights of the Child to meet the needs and uphold the rights of all people under the age of 25.

Consumer Affairs

As a consumer or trader in our society we all have rights and responsibilities.

Education and Training

Lifelong education and training is vital in enriching the lives of not only our citizens, but we as a Nation.

Electoral Affairs

The right to vote is the chance for you to choose who represents you in government and who runs our country. It is a privilege that living in a democracy affords us.

Industrial Relations & Employment

Industrial relations or labour relations, greatly influences the way our economy functions and performs. It is the relationship between management and workers that applies to the workplace.

Mental Health

How we think, feel and act in life determines how we handle stress, relate to others and make life choices. Living with mental illness can severely interfere with your or a loved ones daily life.

Public Service

The public service consists of a group of dedicated and professional people who deliver a range of vital goods and services to the community and government.

Transport

By virtue of our isolated geological location, Perth has become one of the most oil fuelled, car and road freight intensive cities in the world.

Urban Bushland

Since European settlement, most native vegetation in the Southwest of Western Australia (an area that comprises 12.3% of the state, some 31,063,650 hectares) has seen over 65% of the vegetation cover removed or significantly modified through mining, urbanisation and pastoralism. In fact, only 7% of the original untouched vegetation is intact! The continued and increasing clearing of native vegetation is a significant threat to our outstanding biodiversity and natural environment.

Veterans Affairs

The Australian armed forces personnel, have tirelessly given service in defence of their country or in the keeping of peace around the world.

Water

Water, over the past few decades, has become an increasingly rare and vital commodity to our way of life. Our planet surface is covered by up to 70% of water, of which only 2.5% is fresh water, with less than ~0.007% available for human use. Of this, currently 6 billion people on the planet use about 30% this available water, and it is predicted that by 2025 that percentage will rise closer to 70%. With increasing demand on our water resources, our supply of water is rapidly decreasing.

Women

Women represent 51 per cent of the community, yet there remains a significant disparity between the quality of life for women and that of men.
