(1) How many overall FTE school nurses, both permanent and contract, were there, broken down by district, in —

(a) November 2008;

(b) June 2009;

(c) November 2009; and

(d) January 2010?

(2) How many are there anticipated to be, by district, in July 2010?

Hon SIMON O’BRIEN replied:

(1) (a) November 2008:

Child and Adolescent Community Health (CACH, in Metropolitan Perth) — 120.54 FTE employed in school health service. District level data is not available. WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is unable to retrospectively report on FTE school health nurses, both permanent and contract as the system does not differentiate school nurses from other community health nurses.

(b) June 2009:

CACH — 125.94 FTE employed in school health service. District level data is not available. WACHS is unable to retrospectively report on FTE school health nurses, both permanent and contract as the system does not differentiate school nurses from other community health nurses.

(c) November 2009:

CACH — 120.76 FTE (including North Coastal Zone, 37.38 FTE; Inland Zone, 45.35 FTE; and South Coastal Zone, 38.03 FTE) WACHS is unable to retrospectively report on FTE school health nurses, both permanent and contract as the system does not differentiate school nurses from other community health nurses.

(d) January 2010:

CACH — 118.18 FTE employed in school health service. District level data is not available. WACHS — 55.88 FTE school Health Nurses. These are broken down by region as follows: Kimberley, 6 FTE; Pilbara, 6.2 FTE; Midwest, 6.7 FTE; Wheatbelt, 8.38 FTE; Goldfields, 6.8 FTE; South West, 15.35 FTE; and Great Southern, 6.45 FTE.

(2) CACH permanent established FTE is 118. It is estimated that Actual/filled FTE in July 2010 will be 121.5 FTE. It is anticipated there will be similar FTE to those listed at (1)(d) for WACHS regions in July 2010.
