Greens formally demand independent soil testing of Leonora to Fremantle line

The Greens have today demanded that the State Government expand its proposed independent tests of lead shipping containers currently at Fremantle Port, and perform testing at various points along the Leonora to Fremantle train line as well.

 

Greens Transport spokesperson Alison Xamon MLC issued the written demand earlier today.

 

“We welcome the announcement that the State Government will do its own testing of the shipping containers currently at the Fremantle Port,” said Alison Xamon MLC.

 

Greens call for urgent banning of transport of lead carbonate

The Greens have renewed calls for the banning of the transport of lead carbonate following the discovery that the poisonous dust had been found to have leaked at the Fremantle Port.

“The Greens have been consistently opposed to the transport of lead carbonate and were vocal in their opposition to environmental approvals being granted to Magellan by the Barnett Government,” Alison Xamon MLC, Greens spokesperson for Transport said today.

Greens formally demand that State Govt release ALL lead sampling results

The Greens have today demanded that the State Government release ALL lead sampling results, saying there is no reason at this stage to suspect that possible lead contamination is limited to the Fremantle Port.

Greens Transport spokesperson Alison Xamon MLC issued the written demand earlier today.

“So far this scandal has only played out as relating to the people surrounding the Fremantle Port,” said Alison Xamon MLC.
