Greens Commend Groundbreaking Mental Health Research

Greens Mental Health spokesperson Senator Penny Wright has commended a groundbreaking report by a worldwide alliance of scientists, identifying a link between bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Studies involving tens of thousands of patients have identified variations in the genetic code which are associated with both conditions.

Senator Wright acknowledged that the findings are the result of the work of scientists from more than 20 nations, including an Australian team led by University of NSW psychiatrist Philip Mitchell.
