CHILD PROTECTION — OUT-OF-HOME CARE SERVICES — FUNDING

2970. Hon Alison Xamon to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Child Protection:

I refer to non-government community sector organisations who are funded by the Western Australian Government to provide out of home care services, and I ask:

(a)  how many organisations are currently funded;

(b)  how many of (a) are Aboriginal community controlled organisations?

Hon Sue Ellery replied:

(a)  There are 25 non-government community sector organisations currently contracted to provide Out of Home Care placements through the following services:

General Foster Care
Family Group Homes
General Placement Services
Specialised Fostering Program
Disability Placement and Support Program Transitional High Needs Program

(b)  One Aboriginal community-controlled organisation, Yorganop Association Incorporated, is contracted to provide General Foster Care.

As part of the Out of Home Care Reform Program, the Department of Communities is working with the Independent Reference Group, and in consultation with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, peak bodies, Aboriginal Elders and community representatives, to co-design reformed Out of Home Care services.
