DISABILITY SERVICES COMMISSION — AGED-CARE FACILITY RESIDENTS UNDER 65

719. Hon ALISON XAMON to the Minister for Disability Services:

I refer to young people with disabilities housed in aged-care facilities.

(1)  How many people under the age of 65 years are currently housed in aged-care facilities in WA?

(2)  If the Disability Services Commission does not hold this data —

(a)  which agency does; and

(b)  will the Disability Services Commission undertake to seek out this data?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)  The most recent data in the “Report on Government Services” states that 513 people aged 0 to 64 years were in residential aged-care facilities in WA in 2015.

(2)      (a) The Productivity Commission produces the “Report on Government Services” and sources its data from the Department of Social Services.

(b) Not applicable.
