FIONA STANLEY HOSPITAL — PRIVATE CONTRACTORS

361. Hon Alison Xamon to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:

I refer to the contracts between the South Metropolitan Health Services Board (SMHSB) and private contractors, Serco Asia-Pacific and Siemens for the provision of non-clinical services at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH), and I ask:

(a)  is the Government aware of any staff employed by the public health services assisting Serco or Siemens to fulfil its contract requirements including in Information Technology and equipment maintenance services at FSH;

(b)  if yes to (a), what actions will be taken to ensure public health staff are not subsidising private contractors through public health employees’ time;

(c)  if no to (a), will this be examined as part of the State government’s contracts review;

(d)  will the Government provide specific detail on the tasks contracted out to private providers at FSH; and

(e)  if no to (d), why not?

Hon Alanna Clohesy replied:

I am advised that:

(a)  No.

(b)  Not applicable.

(c)  The Inquiry into Government Programs and Projects will be conducted in accordance with its Terms of Reference. [See tabled paper no 807.]

(d)  The Facilities Manager, Serco, is contracted to deliver 25 non-clinical services at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH).
