1966. Hon Alison Xamon to the parliamentary secretary representing the Deputy Premier; Minister for Health; Mental Health:

(1)  What is the total number of dedicated addiction specialist psychiatrists employed in the Western Australian Health system?

(2)  What is the total number of dedicated addiction specialist physicians employed in Western Australian Health System?

(3)  How many dedicated addiction specialist psychiatrists are employed in:

(a)  metropolitan hospitals; and

(b)  regional hospitals?

(4)  How many dedicated addiction specialist physicians are employed in:

(a)  metropolitan hospitals; and

(b)  regional hospitals?

(5)  Please provide a breakdown of the number of FTE dedicated addiction specialist psychiatrists employed by both public and private hospitals across the state?

(6)  Please provide a breakdown of the number of FTE dedicated addiction specialist physicians employed by both public and private hospitals across the state?

Hon Alanna Clohesy replied:

I am advised:

(1)  There are two (2) registered addiction specialist psychiatrists in the Western Australian health system.

(2)  There are fourteen (14) registered addiction specialist (non-psychiatrist) physicians in the Western Australian health system.

(3)       (a) One (1) registered addiction specialist psychiatrist is employed in public metropolitan hospitals.

(b) No registered addiction specialist psychiatrists are employed in public regional hospitals.

(4)       (a) Two (2) registered addiction specialist (non-psychiatrist) physicians are employed in public metropolitan hospitals.

(b) No registered addiction specialist (non-psychiatrist) physicians are employed in public regional hospitals.

(5)  0.9 FTE registered addiction medicine psychiatrists are employed in public hospitals. FTE information for private hospitals is not held by the Department of Health.

(6)  0.6 FTE registered addiction medicine (non-psychiatrist) physicians are employed in public hospitals. FTE information for private hospitals is not held by the Department of Health.
