Mental Health Services - employees by region (QON 1407)

Hon Alison Xamon to the Parliamentary Secretary representing the Minister for Mental Health
(1) Would the Minister please provide details of the number of mental health employees (in FTE
equivalents), in total and by region, working specifically with clients from Culturally and Linguistically
Diverse backgrounds, including with refugees and other migrants?
(2) How many of these FTE are, —
(a) psychiatrists;
(b) psychologists;
(c) social workers; and
(d) mental health nurses?
Hon HELEN MORTON replied:
(1) Number of mental health employees working specifically with clients from Culturally and
Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds:
Child and Adolescent Health Service 1 FTE
North Metropolitan Area Health Service 1 FTE
South Metropolitan Area Health Service 5.4 FTE
The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) does not have any mental health employees working specifically with clients from CALD backgrounds.
Note: All mental health employees across WA Health are expected to work with clients from CALD backgrounds.
