SHENTON PARK REHABILITATION HOSPITAL

HON ALISON XAMON (North Metropolitan) [10.06 pm]: I rise tonight to speak on the Shenton Park Rehabilitation Hospital redevelopment site, which I have spoken about before. Since I last spoke about this matter, I have received the environmental advice pertaining to this site and I want to bring this to the attention of the chamber. We are talking about the bushland that forms part of the Shenton Park Rehabilitation Hospital redevelopment site, which is otherwise known as the Montario Quarter.

PLANNING — SHENTON PARK REHABILITATION HOSPITAL — BUSHFIRE MANAGEMENT

337. Hon Alison Xamon to the minister representing the Minister for Planning:

I refer to the Shenton Park Rehabilitation Hospital site, and I ask:

(a)  if the bush area were left intact, what is the area of the site that would fall into each of the Bushfire Hazard categories:

(i)  Extreme Hazard;

(ii)  Moderate Hazard; and

(iii)  Low Hazard;

338. Hon Alison Xamon to the minister representing the Minister for Planning:

I refer to the redevelopment of the Shenton Park Rehabilitation Hospital site and the fate of the remaining 3.4 Hectares of bushland on the site, and I ask:

(a)  is the Minister aware of Clause 5.2(v) of State Planning Policy2.8 Bushland Policy for the Perth Metropolitan Region which states that proposals or decision-making should “Proactively seek to safeguard, enhance and establish ecological linkages between Bush Forever areas”;

351. Hon Alison Xamon to the Minister for Education and Training:

(1)  I refer to the co-location of the International School of Western Australia (ISWA) with Doubleview Primary School and the concerns of parents and nearby residents regarding the reduced public use of the shared oval and playing courts, and I ask:

(a)  when will the community be able to access the shared oval and playing courts;
